Benfleet Appliance Repairs

Electric ovens are one of my specialisms for good reason — almost every fault comes down to three main areas: heating elements, fans, or thermostats. That makes them reliable to diagnose and quick to fix in most cases. I carry common parts with me, which means many oven repairs are done in a single visit without waiting around for parts to arrive.

Common Electric Oven Faults I Repair
Oven Not Heating Up
The most common call I get. Usually a failed heating element — the part that glows red and generates the heat. It’s one of the most straightforward oven repairs there is and in most cases I can fix it the same day.
Fan running but no heat
The fan motor is working but the element has failed. You’ll hear the fan running normally but the oven stays cold. A classic element fault — usually a quick fix.
Oven overheating or burning food
Typically a faulty thermostat that’s no longer regulating the temperature correctly. If your food is coming out burnt even on lower settings, this is usually why.
Oven not reaching temperature
A partial element failure or a thermostat that’s drifting out of calibration. The oven heats but never gets to the right temperature.
Grill not working
The grill has its own separate element which can fail independently of the main oven. If your grill has stopped working but the oven is fine, it’s usually the grill element.
Oven light not working
A minor fault but an annoying one. Usually a failed bulb or a blown fuse for the light circuit — a quick fix
Error codes or tripping the electrics
If your oven is showing an error code or tripping your consumer unit when you turn it on, it needs attention. Often a failing element causing a short — don’t ignore it.
Fan oven not circulating heat evenly
If food is cooking unevenly, the fan motor may be struggling or the fan blade may be damaged. Affects cooking quality significantly over time.
Clean it regularly — but carefully!
Burnt-on grease and food debris is the enemy of a healthy oven. It can cause smoke, affect taste, and in worst cases cause elements to fail prematurely. Clean regularly with a proper oven cleaner — avoid getting harsh chemicals on the elements themselves.
